Jean-Etienne Fougerole is a humanist intellectual married to a wealthy heiress disconnected from realities. While Fougerole promotes in a televised debate his new novel "À bras ouverts", inviting the wealthiest to welcome the people in need at home, his opponent challenges him to apply what he advocates in his work.
